Hamburg, Hambagu
Hamburg or Hambagu is a Japanese-style menu that can be eaten in a variety of ways, such as sandwiched with bread to make a hamburger, served with Japanese rice and hot soup, eaten as steak, and so on. Today we would like to show you a quick and easy way to make Hamburg by using an instant powder that combines key ingredients such as bread crumbs, onions, salt, pepper, and various spices in one package. Just mix it with your favorite minced meat and it’s ready to be delicious easily. It doesn’t need to be improved. Let’s get this party started. ~~~
Hamburg Ingredients (for 4 serves)
• 60 g Japanese Hamburg making powder
• 120 ml water
• 300 g ground beef (can be adjusted to pork, chicken, or mix as you like)
• A little oil (for the grill)
Sauce Ingredients
• 14 g unsalted butter
• 3 Tbsp ketchup
• 3 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
• 3 Tbsp unsweetened milk
• 2 tsp sugar
How to cook.
1. Mix Japanese Hamburg making powder with water and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Let the breadcrumbs in the Hamburg making powder absorb all of the water.
2. Mix together ground beef and Hamburg making powder until smooth combine.
3. Divide the mixture into four equal portions, shape it into the circle or oval-shaped patties, and toss it between your hands to remove any air pockets. Make a small dent in the center so it cooks evenly and doesn’t break while frying.
4. Heat the oil in a flat pan over medium heat until the pan is hot. Grill the Hamburg patties in the pan until one side is brown, then flip over.
5. Reduce the heat to low and cover to steam until fully cooked. (Check the doneness of the meat by inserting a toothpick into the center of the piece and watching the juice of the meat come out. If there is blood, it is not ripe.)
6. Remove the Hamburg to the plate. Then put unsalted butter, ketchup, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and unsweetened milk in the same pan. Simmer over low heat until the mixture thickens into a sauce. (If too thick, add 1-2 tablespoons of water)
7. Pour the sauce on the Hamburg. Serve with salad, mashed potatoes, french fries, or Japanese rice and miso soup.
